NevaLabs is a new team of journalists, researchers and developers working to empower individuals who want to take control of their news experience. We are developing solutions for people seeking to replace the endless scroll of the social news feed with a productive daily routine of news and information.
We have big ambitions for the product we’re developing, and are proud of the culture which is shaping it. For more on the values and principles which guide us, check out these conversations with Nieman Labs, Global Editors Network, Mashable, Journalism.co.uk and Reuters.
Our company was founded by Mark Little and Áine Kerr, who worked together to build the first social news agency Storyful, and led media partnerships teams at Twitter and Facebook respectively. They have been joined by uniquely experienced team-mates Paul, Eilis, Andrew and Marco, forming the core of a team that is set to expand in size, skillsets and scope in the months to come.
We’re now seeking an experienced mobile application developer to help create a radically enhanced user experience of news and information. We have been testing our assumptions around a unique brand of ‘purpose-driven’ personalisation using a web-application. We’re now ready to bring this to mobile devices running iOS. Our mobile application will bring unparalleled control, productivity and transparency, but minimal friction for mobile users seeking news.
This role gives you a chance to be a critical member of a startup team with proven experience and global ambition, help direct the future of the product, work in a cross-functional team and ultimately launch something that can have a lasting social impact.
You’ll work with designers to help deliver a superior mobile user interface, developers to implement the data and application logic models, and researchers to undertake user testing. There are potential opportunities to work on blogs, research projects, and bespoke industry partnerships.
You will get to choose the technology stack to support the mobile application, whether it be React Native, Swift, or another option you identify. We plan to offer our service on Android in the future, so some reuse is expected.
Your work will be supported by a user experience designer and a team of engineers building an API that your mobile applications will use.
