UX Researcher

                                                      UX Researcher

Who we are

NevaLabs is a new team of journalists, researchers and developers working to empower individuals who want to take control of their news experience. We are developing solutions for people seeking to replace the endless scroll of the social news feed with a productive daily routine of news and information.

We have big ambitions for the product we’re developing, and are proud of the culture which is shaping it. For more on the values and principles which guide us, check out these conversations with Nieman Labs, Global Editors Network, Mashable, Journalism.co.uk and Reuters.

Our company was founded by Mark Little and Áine Kerr, who worked together to build the first social news agency Storyful, and led media partnerships teams at Twitter and Facebook respectively. They have been joined by uniquely experienced team-mates Paul, Eilis, Andrew and Mohamed, forming the core of a team that is set to expand in size, skillsets and scope in the months to come.

The Opportunity

We’re now seeking a UX researcher to work with our product, and research and design teams, to identify and ask important questions, and act as the advocate for users of our product.

We have been testing our assumptions around a unique brand of ‘purpose-driven’ personalisation using a web-application. We’re now ready to bring this to iOS and Android devices.

This role gives you a chance to be a critical member of a startup team with proven experience and global ambition, help direct the future of the product, work in a cross-functional team and ultimately launch something that can have a lasting social impact.

As a UX researcher you will support the design and engineering teams, analyse internal and external research, plan and execute on research projects designed to help us learn more about user behaviours and attitudes when it comes to news and information. You will then translate  those findings into insights which will inform our product and commercial roadmaps. You will use quantitative and qualitative methods to conduct primary research.

There will potentially be opportunities to work on blogs and bespoke industry partnerships.

What skills will you need?

  • 1+ years in applied product research
  • Experience of using quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Knowledge of design research methods
  • Experience of survey design and mechanism to maximise responses
  • Experience of working with large scale data
  • Experience recruiting and screening testers
  • Experience of working with focus groups and nurturing relationships with testers
  • A Degree and/or Masters in user experience design or human behaviour-related field is a bonus

What's on offer?

  • The chance to do something meaningful which might just help solve some of society’s biggest issues, while also creating a groundbreaking new product for news and information
  • Competitive salary
  • The opportunity to work with a dedicated and passionate group of people
  • City centre office location
